From the BBC:

Spotify sets its sights on the iPhone

This is the third news story on the main BBC news homepage, not even the iPhone launch usually gets that high up the list. Could this change the way we all use music on the iPhone? Also will this get through the Apple vetting system? Can it be deemed to clash with other Apple products (in the same way browsers clash with Safari) with regard to iTunes?

Streaming, ok. Downloading songs to the phone. Apple will never let that happen.

it downloads them only into a cache. the songs are not 'saved' as such, just stored temporarily incase a network connection is lost

They wouldnt be "downloaded" in the sense you mean, as the video states the songs would be deleted as soon as you return online again.
