Okay, so before my hardrive crashed, spotlight and search on finder would find everything you typed in (including music files and the folders, for example: if I typed it "Damien Rice" it would find the folder AND the mp3.) But ever since I got my computer back from Apple with a new hardrive, both spotlight and finder will not find the specific search I type in.

I've tried: repair, verify, and checking off all the categories to search in under spotlight prefs.

I'm at a lost here. I don't even know what else to try to search, but at the moment, from experimenting, it seems to be just music files.....

help?

EDIT: it also cannot find documents

The files you're searching for are still on you HDD, right?
Maybe you forgot to load everything back on to your new HDD.

Have you tried re-indexing the spotlight database?

Go into System Preferences->Spotlight, and make your entire HD private. Then, change it back to no longer be private. This will prompt a re-index. It'll take a few minutes.

Okay, it's working on that.

What about the finder search? Why is this affected in the same way?
