Spotlight broken in iWork. Bug?

The issues persists when the actions are initiated within the iWork app itself:

1. Import styles: CMD-O, opens a Finder's selection window. Typing in the search bar results in an empty list of suggestions. Instead you're left with manual search.
2. Open a file: CMD-O, opens a Finder's selection window. Typing in the search bar results in an empty list of suggestions. Instead you're left with manual search.

Question: is it possible to fix or is it a long lasting bug in all the versions of iWork. In my case I'm referring to iWork'09 (version 9.2).
