Hey guys,

Been having a little problem with my iMac for a month or two now. For some reason, there's about a 60%-75% chance that using Spotlight will cause a beachball (if the menu, the menu beachballs, and in the Finder, the Finder beachballs). In the case of the Finder, I'll force relaunch it, but it will only quit the Finder and not restart it. At this point, random applications will also go into beachball mode until eventually the only thing I can do is move my cursor around. Clicking has no effect whatsoever and at this point I have no choice but to force restart.

What could the problem be? And yes, I've run fdisk and repaired permissions. That's not what's wrong I can assure you.

I'm running 10.6.4 on a 2.66 Core i5 iMac.
