Spotlight Comments Disappearing?

I've had my Spotlight comments disappear over time on my Mac's hard drive. The commens still WORK in Spotlight but if you Get Info they're not there under Spotlight Comments.

I haven't copied this files from my backup DVD's. It's happening to my newer files too.
