For a while i thought my HDD was going bad because it would constantly be accessing something but as it turns out the culprit is Spotlight. I use spotlight to launch apps a lot, so i type:
Cmd+Space
Terminal
Enter

...and terminal launches. The problem i found is that even after selecting Terminal, with mouse or keyboard, Spotlight continues to search even though i have the item open and the dropdwn menu has closed. I have to manually go to the menu and click the little X to cancel the search. I dont recall this happening in Leopard and its starting to piss me off. Is there anything i can do to remedy this?

I fixed this issue in my instance by adding the BOOTCAMP partition to the do not search list under the Private tab of Spotlight Preferences. That seemed to do the trick. Apparently it was trying to search/index the Vista partition under Boot Camp.
