Spotlight does not allow me to add a drive in Privacy

I have a TomTom, and I tried to update the darn thing like it said I should do. After doing so, it no longer works. I asked the TomTom people, and they said that Spotlight interferes with the installation process. They sent me an email of how to fix the problem. One of the steps is the following link:

I followed the instructions, but at step 5, where it says "Choose the TomTom from the device list and then select Choose," the device does not add to the list, as is shown in step 6. I tried dragging it into the field, but it still does not add. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix this?
