Spotlight extremely slow

I got my macbook pro 13 about two weeks ago, and its been running perfectly, but just today and yesterday, my spotlight has been taking about 10 minutes after boot to start finding things. If I type in "activity monitor" it only finds me a dictionary definition for it. After about 10 minutes it will actually find applications. Any reason why this is happening?

Mine does this too, which is really annoying after reboots :\
