Spotlight seems to be indexing way more than normal. For example, it just finished an index and now it's doing it again 15 minutes later... I haven't restarted, cleared any cache files, or anything of the sort. Does anyone know why it would be doing this? I'm thinking about just disabling it even though it does come in handy once and a while.

It's better to force it to do one complete index and let it finish. It may take some time but should stop the reindexing problem.

Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes

If that fails to index, enter the following command in Terminal:
sudo mdutil -i on "/Volumes/your drive name"
