Since upgrading to SL (big mistake in my case), when I do a Spotlight search, some of the results appear in English with what seems to be a Chinese or Japanese script suffix - or in some cases, just Chinese/Japanese. The latter is what happens if I Spotlight: Address Book, Dictionary, Terminal, DVD, Keychain etc. I get the little icon but the name is in Chinese.

Language settings in System Prefs is British English as is Input Sources.

Chinese characters in Spotlight

Had the same problems. Apparently it is due to some applications not recognising British English.
If you go into the Language settings and make sure English is there as well as British English the problem should be sorted (you need to log out and back in). Make sure British English is above English in the list otherwise you'll be hassled with American spellings.
