So I did a migration from my old Mac Pro to my new iMac and generally it went smoothly, but I have some issues with spotlight and the menubar at large.

Spotlight doesn't work very well, when I activate it, the first letter I type doesn't register and then it starts 'typing' with me from the second letter, but I can't backspace and I can't hit enter to actually search. It just sits there registering new letters I press until I hit command+space again to close spotlight. I deleted the spotlight plist and rebooted and it was better for a few minutes, then the problem returned.

I also noticed that my wifi controls are all ghosted out, as are my Time Machine controls, most of my BT controls, the clock settings (all of which work from system preferences, but not from their shortcuts in the menubar) while some third party menubar plugins seems to maintain their full functionality.

I'm very dependent on spotlight, it's a huge hassle for me. Input greatly appreciated!
