Another question after the upgrade to 15.4. The Screenshot App always showed under Spotlight but no longer does. I've restarted Finder, restarted the M2 MBP to no avail. It can be opened directly via Launchpad>Utilities>Screenshot but this is the longer path. Ideally I'd have it as a quick access icon in the top menu bar.

Edit: Rebuilding the Spotlight Index as Apple suggests hasn't helped, unless I'm doing something wrong? System Prefs>Spotlight and unticking and reticking. In my case Apps, but I've done them all for good measure.

I can fully write Screenshot into Spotlight and the first thing that shows are website help pages, emails, Messages and "Accessibility Keyboard" (as the only App) . Perhaps someone can confirm whether 15.4 has also caused this issue for them?

Edit 2: Looks like it's not just this one App but all Apps and Document searches.

Pretty much everything that is on the internal drive. I've changed the thread title to reflect this and not just Screenshot App being affected.

EDIT 3- Resolved

It appears that the issue has resolved itself. Another restart of the MBP did finally force a Spotlight reindex. Unsure why the first time didn't. Choosing not to delete the thread, marking as resolved, in case the issue comes up again. I'll be sure to try restarting more than once from now on.

I'd still love to know how to place shortcut icons into the top menu bar (for the Screenshot App).

Cheers

Glad you were able to resolve the problem. Will add this

I have Spotlight permanently disabled, but every so often I find myself drafted to fix someones corrupt Stoplight Index. I find it best to use Terminal (mdutil) to delete the metadata index. Once you delete, make sure the computer is set to never sleep and never log out, then walk away from the computer until the index finishes rebuilding. This can take a very long time so be patient. Once the rebuild is complete a reboot is probably in order.

Thanks for the reply. Prior to this M2 I did use a 2009 MBP for well over a decade. I recall being able to rebuild the Spotlight index quite easily in the UI option, also how long it took (yes, switched sleep+log off down).

Not proficient with Terminal but will make a note of mdutil. Unsure why it got messed up updating from 15.3.2 to 15.4 or it not rebuilding after the first restart, but it finally "stuck" second time round. All as it's supposed to be...now.

Cheers
