Spotlight Not Working In Leopard

It was working, and was indexed, but is now long gone.... I tried "sudo mdutil -E /" but it said "No Index" and I tried going to the privacy tab of the spotlight preferences and selecting my harddrive, but it said "Privacy List Error - The item couldn't be added or removed because of an unknown error."

Can someone please help me? I miss my spotlight.

The first one worked perfectly for me on Tiger, mind.
