Is there a way to put spotlight on Panther, obviously it will not be "spotlight" but a metadata searcher, something that might even look like spotlight in the top right corner, i have hear of these searchers, surely it wouldnt be hard to make it LOOK like spotlight, but anywho, does anyone know of a searcher like spotlight that will work on panther

Try a little application called Butler. I doesn't search all metadata like Spotlight, but it will find filenames pretty quick. It not exactly what you're asking for but its in the ballpark.

Also QuickSilver does some similar things -- you have to use an older beta, though, since the latest requires Tiger.
