Does Spotlight do this? It would be insanely helpful.
For instance, I probably have dozens of text files on my HD named "Proposal" and dozens of images on my HD named "Logo." Nothing wrong with that... they are filed INSIDE folders with my clients names. No need to also put the client's name in every file--that's just more work (not what Spotlight is all about).
But if Parent is a searchable attribute (in Panther it's at least a SORTABLE attribute in Search results) then when I search for "johnson logo" I will find the file "Logo.TIF" in the "Johnson 2004" folder, just like I'd want to.
Or I'd find the file "version2 outlined.TIF" inside the folder "Johnson Logo"... even when specifically searching for images and not folders.
Without parent-name searching, a lot of important stuff, filed and named sensibly, would NOT come up in Spotlight.
Ideally, I'd even like the ability (at least optionally in Finder) to see results where the terms are ANYWHERE in the path--such as if "Logo" is in a folder called "Art" inside of "Johnson."
Of course, these criteria need not RANK the result very high, if there are other files with the terms right in the actual filename/contents--but I wouldn't want those files to be missed completely.
How much of this does Spotlight and/or Finder do in Tiger?
TIA
