is there anyway to make it so that when you type in what you're looking for, when you hit enter, instead of opening up the "show all window" it will open up the top hit. Because 99.99% of the time i'll type in the exact name of the application, and i just want to hit enter, but instead i have to hit the down arrow, then hit enter(sounds lazy, but its more about efficency).

Yes, very very VERY lazy. :D
 
AFAIK, no.. there's no way to do this in Spotlight's current iteration. Perhaps in Leopard there will be more Spotlight custimization available.
