I've often found Spotlight indexer to be a contributor to iOS sluggishness. Indexing all messages, email, etc. It can be a lot of data to keep an index of.

I've always paired it down to just installed apps and contacts.

With the iOS9PB... holy cow, every app is listed. A quick google, and iOS9 now spotlight indexes the inside of third party apps.
