I know there have been similar topics, but I haven't found one that pertains to my issue.

For some time now, at least through Catalina and Ventura and probably Big Sur, whenever I do a Finder spotlight search, it generally shows a lot of files not pertaining to the search. I've attached screenshots of both the search results for "Chairs" and the System Settings screens as examples.

In the search results, images all have chairs in the picture, but I have Images turned off in settings. It also shows extraneous files like log files that do have chairs in them. I do not want to search these bizarro files, but don't see a way to exclude them. Also, I cannot update to Sonoma as my machine won't run it.

All I want to do is use Spotlight the way it used to work. I only had to enter the search term and it only gave me what I was looking for, including images that had the word chairs in it, but would not search the image. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I'll give them a try & report back
Downloaded both and they each seem like great programs. Easy Find is more involved, but queries can be more tailored, while Find Any File is faster to set up. Very similar to Houdah Spot, which I've used in the past, but seems to have lost functionality over the years.
Thanks for the suggestions, but it's a shame that Spotlight works so poorly and we have to invoke a separate app for searching!
