I have had a Macbook for about 3 weeks. My spotlight is not working the way it should. Any new files that are added aftera certain date (emails, files saved to desktop or other folders) are not showing up in spotlight searches.

I have searched this forum extensively, and reindexed the whole HD over again (the trick to add and then remove from Private section in Spotlight settings). This gets the new files into spotlight, but nothing added afterwards shows up.

I have tried erasing various caches by using a program called MainMenu whch one post suggested. I have also gone into the terminal and used the
sudo mdutil -E /
command-

Does anyone know what else I should do? Anyone else having this happen? I feel like I am back in Windows land with this problem that has no solution. Any chance it is related to 10.4.10? Any chance Leopard will fix spotlight?
