spotlight troubles

Okay, so I looked around and seem to have exhausted the recommendations I have seen on this board and other online sources.

I upgraded to 10.5 earlier this week. I came to notice that Spotlight was not acting appropriately and, in fact, only giving me results from my external drive.

I tried adding my hard drive to the privacy list and then removing it without any change. I tried the terminal command I have seen in many places and seem to still have no change.

What next? :confused:
 
No one has any ideas?

I had been beginning to think maybe things were just happening in the background very slowly, but no. I added my external drive to the privacy list, then removed it a bit later and immediately the spotlight window shows that it is indexing THAT drive. But the same thing does not happen with the internal hard drive. Very frustrating.

What next?
