Spotlight update when move files?

I moved various files a couple weeks ago, yet Spotlight still doesn't seem to recognize their new locations. When I click on the file in the results of a Spotlight search, nothing happens, as if it the OS looked in the old location, didn't find the file, and just gave up.

Anyone know how to get Spotlight to update after you move files? Or maybe the problem is actually something else? Please help, as this is very annoying.

Try re-indexing your drive:

Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes​

If that fails to index, enter the following command in Terminal:

sudo mdutil -i on "/Volumes/your drive name"​
