Spotlight won't search, and Mac slow (post-malware)

I had this issue

and the forums helped fix it.
However, now some search functions are weird, like Spotlight doesn't search at all. Also, browser loads are achingly slow.
Any ideas?Thank you

Have you gone into disk utility and repaired permissions etc?

Force a rebuild of your spotlight index.
In Spotlight System prefs:
Add every drive that should be indexed to the "Prevent Spotlight from searching..." list in the privacy pane.
Close and reopen System prefs.
Take those drives back off the Prevent... list.
Wait for Spoylight to reindex them.
