Sprint appears to charge the credit card right away

I know many people were asking about this in different threads.

I also was afraid to port my number so I chose a new one. I hope I can change this at a later time. The website said that they would immediately start trying to port my number over. I can't go a week without a phone.

Charging the card immediately is for the best really. That way persons with more limited funds don't run into issues like spending money that isn't really there.

I don't believe the port is completed fully until you activate your sprint phone. So when you activate, then your number is ported; however, the process is completed in the meantime... your plan doesn't start until you call in and activate and authorize the port. So you'll need to have phone in hand to switch numbers.
