Sprint Compass 597 GPS on my MBP?

Hey guys, I have an old Spring Compass USB dongle that has both 3g and GPS. I've used the GPS before on my old PC but I was wondering if I could use it with google earth on my macbook.

The thing is, it no longer has 3g contract. Can I still access the NMEA or whatever and use it for gps?
