I'm very likely to switch to Sprint when I get a 4S, as my Verizon contract is long expired, and the only thing good about Verizon is the coverage. I live in urban Boston, so I expect that coverage will not be a problem most of the time. As I understand it, Sprint also offers free roaming, both voice and data, on Verizon's network, which should take care of the rest of the time. There are a few limitations: max 800 minutes/300 MB roaming per month, and you only roam if there's no Sprint signal at all. What I'm not sure about is whether data roaming is only on 1x (2G) or EV-DO (3G) -- there are conflicting reports. Obviously the iPhone has the ability to use EV-DO on either network; the question is whether some software limitation would prevent it from roaming on EV-DO. Anyone know the answer to this? It's probably not going to affect my decision, but I'd still like to be better informed before I commit.
