Sprint has announced a new plan called Unlimited Freedom that offers unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data for $60 per month. A second line can be added for $40 per month, while up to eight more lines can be added for an additional $30 per month each. The total cost for a family of four, for example, would be $160 per month, the same price as T-Mobile's new ONE plan for that many lines.

Unlimited Freedom automatically optimizes select content, limiting video streams to up to 480p resolution, gaming up to 2 Mbps, and music streams up to 500 kbps. The carrier did not specify if tethering is included, or if customers will be able to upgrade to unlimited HD video and music for an additional monthly charge. T-Mobile ONE offers unlimited HD video for an additional $25 per month.

Sprint also announced that its prepaid subsidiary Boost Mobile is launching a new Unlimited Unhook'd plan featuring unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data, with the same content optimizations, for $50 per month. Up to four additional lines can be added for $30 per month each. The new plans from both Sprint and Boost Mobile are available for new and existing customers starting tomorrow.

#1 - I couldn't swap from AT&T to Sprint without changing phones, even if I wanted, right?
#2 - Terrible coverage is terrible. Doesn't matter how cheap it is if you can't ever use it.
Unlocked iPhones do work on Sprint, I'd have to look into if the ATT models are missing bands that Sprint uses, but I was able to bring my own device when I switched to Sprint from Verizon.

Coverage depends on where you are. I had heard bad things about their coverage, but decided to switch anyway because I was tired of paying what Verizon charges, and their coverage maps showed that they should work where I am. The coverage is just fine, but that may vary depending on where you are.

Sprint reminds me their advertisement a few months back where they are slashing our AT&T bills in half.
They forgot to mention they would also slash the data speed and signal reception in half.
You didn't fall for it, did you?

I ended up switching to Verizon. I pay more than AT&T, but service surpasses my satisfaction. Still $170/month though.

Well, Sprint wins on price; but man, their LTE footprint is tiny compared to everyone else.

For the moment, I remain unconvinced they actually win on price: my "2-line" $120 of T-Mobile includes tethering (7GB/phone) and a 3rd device (iPad with 5GB LTE, "unlimited" web roaming... plus the standard music streaming and Binge On stuff).

So today we have t mobile and sprint showing off their unlimited data options. Meanwhile ATT probably was all proud yesterday showing off their new data plans that give you a gig more for 10$ more and no overage data but instead you get 90s data speeds on anything over.

Sprint was awful. I remember being on their network pre iPhone days and they couldn't even handle text messages. They'd literally take 5-20 minutes for the other person on Sprint to receive.

How could I trust them to handle something extremely more complex such as data?

Sprint could be $1 a month and I still wouldn't switch back. Crazy because that was almost 10 years ago and I still hate them.

But. It's. Still. Sprint.
And AT&T is still AT&T.

Not everyone needs to have a webpage load in 1 millisecond nor do they expect to have blazing 4G LTE speed wherever they may be.

For some people, Sprint doesn't work well for coverage reasons. And for others like myself, the Sprint service works well for the coverage area and needs.

I think some of the users here like to bash Sprint just because they can, without taking the time to engage the brain before posting.

Don't be so naive. It's not about milliseconds and 50Gbps LTE. Its about basic reception and usable speed. I'm not paying for something that doesn't work.

Sprint INVITES the bashing with their deceptive advertising and dares ATT & VZW customers to compare networks. And guess what? It's not even close.

Sprint's LTE can be blazing fast. The footprint is smaller yes but if you spend the majority of your time in their LTE coverage you should consider them. For example in Denver, Sprint has the fastest LTE. Every year i evaluate my plan and look at the other offers and nothing competes with our unlimited family plan.

I'm still under the old Sprint "unlimited" plan that really unlimited.
My problem, it keeps jumping down to "3G" each day and then there is no data and I have to toggle the cellular data button in Setting to put it back on "LTE" and it works fine again.

I would love to join my family on Sprint's or TMobile's new plans to save money over Verizon.

But, both Sprint and TMobile coverage is horrible where I live. I used both pre iPhone(AT&T), and they were not that great then.

You would think that 10 years later, their coverage would have improved, sadly it has not. So, still stuck with an expensive Verizon plan.

Well, you get what you pay for.

Have you tried changing your plan or speaking with retentions to negotiate a lower rate?

I'm so glad it's not just me. It just recently started happening in the last month or so too. It happens most when I'm on Wifi. It'll drop straight to 3G and I have to toggle Cellular off/on to "jump start it"

And while we're talking about Sprint speeds....(North Kansas City)

I dropped one of my sub-consultants a couple of days ago, her reliance and defense of Sprint is what killed it for me, not being able to get her on the mobile phone when she said she and her employees would be available - it's in our contract, and she told me they just re-upped with Sprint. Her words were "They've been great for us!"

Never mind the dozens of times we've been at my job sites and she's said: "I missed another call/voicemail notification/text message", "Did you hear my phone ring?", and - of course - "I can't get a signal in here..." while my ATTWS and VZW phones work just fine. I told her account manager that they're out $300k worth of business because of a reliance on Sprint and missing too many meetings and site visits.

Never mind Sprint's claim of "Unlimited Data" but failing to mention (except in their TOS's really, really tiny fine print) the 300MB monthly roaming data allotment for about the umpteenth year in a row...
