My mac seems to like to turn only ocassionally when i press the on button. When it does, it sits on a blackscreen for a bit before shutting down. More often it doesnt not even turn on but i hear a sputtering / popping sound from the PSU. I cant get far enough into a proper boot to recive any error messages so im wondering if i should bite the bullet and purchase another psu? The only other thing is i have broken the cmos battery clamp, and just have it taped in. I feel like this is unrelated but wanted to mention.

I would try to get an entire machine of same type.
Maybe the same price range but you have all spare parts avail. Can keep the rest or sell it.
