Hi all,

I know there are some similar threads but I wanted to get people's thoughts on the Squaretrade iPhone insurance. I wasn't interested in it at all until I found out that you can just take it to a Genius Bar and they'll reimburse you quickly through PayPal. Though I'd prefer AppleCare+, I can't help but feel frustrated as Apple increases the price and the deductible price every single release. I also am a fan of the Squaretrade option because if you purchase it ($99 for two years) you can be reimbursed for whatever portion you don't use. I upgrade every year so essentially it will only cost me $50 for one year of peace of mind.

Can y'all share your thoughts/experiences? I know there are some bad reviews on Amazon, but it seems like as long as you purchase through the Squaretrade website you will get the best treatment.

Also, the website states they reimburse for Genius Bar 'repairs'. Does anyone know for certain if this also includes Genius Bar replacements?

You will need to contact Squaretrade prior to showing up at the genius bar to get an authorization number. Once you have that, Apple will repair or replace, whichever is needed.

Good to know. Have you used SquareTrade and had positive experiences before?

I used squaretrade for my iPad that broke in 2011. They gave me full cash.
A++++

Squaretrade has worked well for me too. As stated they will pay the Genius Bar replacement price if you damage your device. I also like it so I can get three years of coverage. I might not use a phone as my primary for three years, but usually my phones are being used by me or someone I know for three years, so that is good to have. I have square trade coverage on my iPad too and it's nice knowing I have one year of coverage left on the iPad Air I got two years ago, because I know I am not getting a new one before then. I know you aren't looking for additional years of coverage, but other people may read this and be looking for that.

Had a claim and it went extremely smooth. Send the bill from Apple and they cut me a check.

I have used ST for many years (since before my first iPhone). We have used them for cameras, video cameras, laptops, digital picture frames, and all kinds of phones and tablets.

My husband has made claims on several cameras and a laptop. Anything that wasn't repairable was replaced or the original cost was refunded. They replaced the entire logic board on the laptop, and he wound up with a much better laptop than he started with.

When I passed my iPhone 5 down to my mother, I also transferred the remaining ST coverage. (You can also get a prorated refund of your coverage.) Needless to say, within a month of her having the 5, it started misbehaving, and I couldn't troubleshoot from 6 hours away on the phone. She called ST, got a claim number, went to Apple, and they replaced the phone.

I cannot say enough great things about ST.
