My 2.2 Ghz/160 GB 5400rpm 15" glossy MBP, that i ordered JUNE 6, has been delayed to "Ships by Jul 11 - 13" after having an original ship date of "Jun 20" and then being delayed to "Jun 28 - Jul 2." i feel like it's not coming. Whenever i've called apple, they've said that the 15" model is very popular and it's taking a long time to ship, but every day i read about people whose computers are being shipped. They've given me no explanation other than that. Do any of you have any advice? i would be grateful for anything. Thanks!

It has to be your 160GB hard drive. My replacement 2.2 with glossy as the only CTO option was ordered last Tuesday and shipped last night. My original was ordered June 11 and shipped in 5 days.
The CTO hard drive options appear to be giving a lot of people delays.

Point taken. The thing is though, other people on this forum have ordered the exact same CTO and have gotten it. So it makes me wonder what's going on.
If they delay shipment again personally I would cancel and re-order. Perhaps you've just gotten lost in the system.
Mine has also been pushed back to July 10-11. So you're not the only one in that boat.
I'm very happy about it... Usually it's because they fixed some problems. Like the screen or the thermal paste issue.
mine seems like its taking longer than it should. i ordered the stock 2.4 ghz 15" on jun 30 and its giving me a ship date of jun 10 - 12 even though the website says 5-7 days. what gives? i'm getting antsy.
Its 7 work days.. You ordered a Saturday, they start processing your order Monday. Then if your lucky, it ships Friday the 6(5 works days have passed), if your not and have to wait 7 work days, you have to wait over the weekend and it then ships July 10(7 works days)... So it's actually very precise :S
Has anyone cancelled an order and reordered the exact same computer in order to change the shipping date? i feel like i remember someone saying that a few weeks ago. Thanks for the suggestions...i think since i bought it from a university, i will first contact them, hopefully so they will complain to apple. if that doesn't work, i will go to my local apple store and complain in person.
I ordered mine the day after the release. So a real long time ago, and it still says shipping July 19th. That is 6 weeks!!
That's because of your HD choice, the 7200rpm drive is in limited supply. All manufacturers are experiencing delay with that particular drive.
If you wait it out, call Apple and ask to be compensated. I remember a while back when the macbooks (I think it was the MBs?) were released and people called to complain about shipping taking too long, or threatened to cancel their orders, Apple was handing out $50+ discounts right and left, plus upgrading their shipping. Worth a shot, anyways. I'd say you deserve it having to wait over a month for your computer...

I was advised by apple that If io did this then it would be even longer and I would be put to the back of the queue, I ordered on the 5th 6:24pmGMT and they have just put back my shipping from the 3rd july to the 17th!! that is 6 weeks.....
knowing that other who ordered later and are getting there's delivered is the reason why I miffed but to say that they did not anticpate the lareg demand is not an excuse becuase mine should have shipped before others....
Geez... I just strolled into an Apple store and picked one out. Is the 40GB extra space really worth months of waiting? Hell, you could just buy a better harddrive after the fact and have a certified tech install it for you.
This has to be because of your 7200 rpm hard drive. I ordered the same comp except a 5400 rpm HD on july 1st. It says it will ship the 10th and arrive somewhere around the 14th.
Yes the 7200 rpm did delay shipping and we knew that from the beginning, but people are receiving the exact same CTO that was ordered after the people that have been waiting since the first day. I know that people that ordered the same CTO later than myself have already received their MBP. For myself, I would just like to know that those of us who ordered early are not forgotten.
I finally got word that Apple should be shipping out my mbp tomorrow. Thing is since there's a weekend coming up and it can take upto 5 business days to ship the laptop i might not get it till next wednesday. So it would be 6 days short of a month that i would be recieving my laptop even though Apple said it should take 5-7 days to ship and upto 5 days to recieve. I'm peeved but relived that the end is finally near.
don't mean to be a pessimist but you'll probably find the shipping will be put back (especially if you in europe) but please post if it does ship, good luck..
Actually, I ordered mine on June 26, and it shipped today. I got the 2.2 GHz with the 160 GB 5400 RPM drive and glossy screen.
I ordered 17-in High-Res with 250Gig hdd on Saturday, June 30th and it shipped yesterday (July 4).
