My watch is only used at night now as I have a SS5 that I always wear during the day. I can't tell if the battery is swollen or not as the screen is only loose on one side so far. Just noticed this today. Is Apple doing anything to repair or replace these?

If the display is being forced off and you can’t tell if it’s due to the battery being enlarged, take it to Apple and have them specifically look at it.

There are no specific warranties in place addressing the Series 3 for display issues.

I am taking it in later this week, but just wondered if anyone had the same issue with a series 3 SS model and if so did Apple repair it.

There’s no active extended display warranties with the Series 3.

If you want Apple to repair it, it will come at a cost ‘out of pocket’.

That's what I'm kind of expecting, but I'm going to check it out just in case they will make an exception. (fat chance I know) I won't pay to repair it at this point.

Here’s what I would do, when you bring the Apple Watch in, explain what happened in a polite manner without making any demands, but the contingencies will be based on 1.) How long you’ve owned it, 2.) What condition is the watch in and 3.) It depends on who you talk to you in the store.

That is what I plan on doing. My watch has been very well cared for and looks almost new other than the face slipping off on one side. I'm hoping that I can get it repaired.Until this happened it was still a really good watch.I am the original owner and it's just a little over 2 years old as I ordered it when they first came out.

What they likely will do, is send you a refurbished Apple Watch and probably won’t even repair yours. If the store level doesn’t make an exception for you, reach out to Corporate/customer relations and explain your case, they might get in touch with you personally to arrange something.

I would be happy with a refurbished one, but wonder if they have any SS series 3's around at this point.

Absolutely they have Series 3 refurbished models they can send out. The Series 3 is still being currently sold through Apple‘s website new, and they will have models set aside strictly for issues like yours.

I already came across 4 SS S3 with swelling battery/screen popping off. I passed on two, repaired one myself and got one replaced by Apple. In my opinion, it's 100% a manufacturer's defect and they need to take care of it, warranty or not. They still have plenty of SS S3, the one that I got replaced was shipped out in a day.

Im hoping they will replace it. Did they just send you the watch, or did it come with a band and charger? Did you need to bring it with a band and charger? I still have the box mine came in!

No, they will always only replace the watch, not any accessories like band or charger.
If you go to the Apple Store to replace it, they will put it into a small white shipping box in front of you and the replacement will come in exact the same small white box after they examined it in the depot. If you order a shipment from the website, they will first mail you a small box you need to put your watch into, then reship it to Apple. The replacement will then be shipped back to you after examination. The instructions will explicitly state only to ship the watch, no bands or other accessories.

I'm pretty sure they'll replace it. Just don't mess with it - don't try to glue it back or remove the battery or screen. Leave it all in an original state and they will ship you a new one.

Thank you. I'm taking it tomorrow. At least it's not my main watch!

Apple will either repair or replace the watch. Most likely replace it with a referbed one. It is covered under warranty. I'll have it back no later than next Monday.

If they replace your Apple Watch with a refurbished model, verify that Apple has your serial number documented for the replacement device. Otherwise, it will show ‘two’ serial numbers on file with them, and you want the most current watch that they send you to be on file and your old one to be removed. It should be an automatic process, but sometimes it’s not.

The reason I’m telling you this, is if something goes wrong with the refurbished model in the future, it shows that you have two series 3 Apple Watches, when in reality, you only have one.

Update: Apple lost my series 3 watch! They called me tonight and since they can't locate it they are going to upgrade it to the Series 5 with a Milanese Loop model. I really expected that I was going to get a refurbished 3!! I was only using it as a second watch to record sleep. My daughter is going to get a really nice upgrade to her current aluminum series 3, as I really don’t need a second watch.

Apparently they don't have that many Series 3 SS models available.

Apple has always been good to me in the past. I had a PowerMac desktop that was going crazy with the fans randomly blowing. Apple replaced it with a new MacPro. They sent my daughters laptop back to us without a battery and they gave her a new MacBook. I have been given cases for my phones when they messed up on my order. I can't complain. The last thing I expected was for them to replace it with a series 5, and one with an expensive band too. I'll take it though.
