Well after being a bit disappointed that the SS space black would cost $1049+.
I found the 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Sport Band listing to show space black stainless steel case in the apple watch features section. Does this mean that we can pick either SS or SS space black for 549.99 or 599.99 ?

Tangential question: is this the same material as the Mac Pro enclosure?

I don't *think* so. I think the SS watch description you refer to is their generic language for all the apple watch SS styles.

For example, if you look at the the description of the "38mm 18-Karat Yellow Gold Case with Bright Red Modern Buckle" you see in the description of the watch that it comes in rose gold or yellow gold. But I'd wager that this particular watch comes only in yellow gold.

No, that's traditional SS, not space black SS.

That is not what it says it says

Stainless steel or space black stainless steel case

As someone mentioned, that's just a general description. E.g., selecting a rose gold model shows "18-karat yellow or rose gold case" in the general description.

The actual model is traditional SS, sorry.
