My fastest and cheapest External Firewire Boot Solution for a Mac Mini. I can get both these cheaper on eBay BTW. I also like the no moving parts thing too.

If anyone knows a cheaper, faster, better way please let me know.

Also, OS X needs, what, like, 15GB to install... but cant you thin it out after install then copy that image to a smaller CF card...

You can use those but there are much cheaper solutions that will perform much better. For what those offer you could get a fast USB thumb drive. A better target drive would be a portable FW400 drive which would give a lot more storage for cheaper and be much faster.

That's an interesting solution. I think cohibadad is right though; you can get similar speeds out of cheaper devices, like an FW400 drive.

I really dont need more than 16GB... What about a firewire thumbdrive? Or, who makes the the fastest USB thumbdrives, whats considered a fast TD transfer rate these days?
