Hey guys,

I just got my new 2011 17" MacBook Pro and my first SSD (120GB OCZ Vertex 2) and it just screams with performance. Initially, I had just the SSD installed before receiving my Optibay so I could stick in my original 750GB HDD. I've since moved my entire User folder over to the HDD, but have noticed a tiny performance decrease in doing so. Would this have anything to do with the fact that all of the cache files for apps (/User/Library/) is now on the HDD? I mainly made the switch because my iTunes folder and Downloads folder get pretty big and would never fit on the 120GB drive comfortably. Any suggestions to fix my problem?

There are a number of tools to move your iTunes library without moving the whole home directory; I've used Libra (http://www.sillybit.com/libra/) for years and it works great.

The Downloads folder is even easier - it's just a config option in Safari.
