SSD as Boot - Software update tries to save to SSD not home directory

I have mp 5,1 and have a SSD as boot and a 1tb drive as the home directory (all set up ok)

however, when running software update, it wants to save the files to the SSD boot drive? How can I change this so that it saves it to the 1tb harddrive wher ethe home folder is?

Why? SW Update needs to patch the files on the boot SSD. It downloads to whatever the boot devices cache directory is. NOT the Downloads folder in your user account or anything. After it is done it cleans up after itself as well.
