Not if you are going to use the SSD in the future with a newer MBP via USB 3 as an extra drive. If the budget allows, get a larger SSD such as 500GB ($309 at NewEgg).

This morning I saw that the Samsung 840 EVO 1TB is now $499 at B&H, Adorama, and others.
