I have an early 2011 MBP with 512GB Toshiba (previously pulled) SSD, 6GB of space left...
With the age of my MBP and with only 2 months of Applecare left, do I opt for a Samsung Evo 840 1tb SSD for £350+ or make do with a Seagate 1tb SSHD or Travelstar 7k1000?
Lately, I have been using my MBP mostly for web browsing, downloading and streaming to Apple TV.
Will I actually miss the SSD that much (for my uses)?
And if I go for an HDD, is the 5400rpm Seagate + SSD combo faster and as reliable than the 7200rpm Hitachi Travelstar for my uses?
Although I would love to have another SSD, I am thinking that seeing as something else in my laptop is more likely to fail in the next 2 years other than the hard drive, I will be better off buying an HDD until I purchase my next computer.
Any suggestions?
(I looked at the Crucial M500 series, and although a bit cheaper than Samsung, Apple users seem to have had difficulty updating firmware).
