I recently upgrade to SSD and setup SSD+HHD dual drive. Problem is when I put SSD in optical drive bay, system profile shows only 1.5G negotiated link speed for the SSD, 3G negotiated link speed for HHD. Swap the SSD to primary slot and HHD to optical slot, both drives have 3G negotiated link speed. I am wondering why is that? I would like to have SSD in optical bay if possible (since primary bay has sudden motion sensor and SSD doesn't need it).

Also I understand from previous thread it is better to put SSD in optical bay https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1347247/

Following are the details about my MacBook:
mid-2009 13" MBP 5,5 (Mountain Lion 10.8.1, EFI 1.7)
SSD: Vertex 3 120GB (firmware 2.22)
HHD: Seagate Momentux XT 500GB (firmware SD28)
optibay caddy: Nimitz

Not sure why it would do that, you have the latest firmware for the SSD?

Sounds more of an Optibay Doubler issue.

Also, I would just keep the SSD in the main bay regardless, people post less issues.

The Vertex 3 SSD has the latest firmware (v2.22). I can't imagine the 1.5G negotiated speed link is caused by the Nimitz caddy. If that is the case, HDD in the same caddy should also have 1.5G limit.
