I just ordered a refurb late 2011 2.5GHz 17". Was hoping for a Ivy version but sadly no. Can I install a SSD larger than 512. Crucial only sells a 512 for the 17"

You can, but crucial doesn't make SSDs larger than 512GB. Intel is the only one I've seen that makes 600GB SSD, but retail prices are $1000+. Not sure why you would need such a large SSD. You might as well settle for a 256Gb SDD and use an optibay with a 750GB HDD. Or just use a external HD.

Thank you for the data! Did not realize the 750ssd in the new MBPS ase apple design. So now I understand 512 is the biggest. I will managed own to the 512. Just like having all my music on my mbp,
