Is it even worth putting an SSD in a SATA-I laptop? Will there be much of a speed increase?

Burst read will top out at 150mbps thoretical which is better than an average HDD at around 90 mbps thoretical.

I imorton macrumors 6502 Aug 21, 2010 275 22 Jun 9, 2011 #4 I put a Vertex2 SSD in a 2008 Macbook 4.1, and it also had Sata-I. It was night and day speed wise, and it was a worthy upgrade. Another great feature was it was now silent, and since SSD's have no moving parts, it is weird to be able to shake a laptop while it is running...
