I bought a 2007 Macbook Pro 3.1 a couple of weeks ago and have just received an SSD for it, but then I realised it's SATA-I, not SATA-II.

Is it even worth putting an SSD in a SATA-I laptop? Will there be much of a speed increase?

Still worth it. Random reads will still be much higher. Burst read will top out at 150mbps thoretical which is better than an average HDD at around 90 mbps thoretical.

I put a Vertex2 SSD in a 2008 Macbook 4.1, and it also had Sata-I.

It was night and day speed wise, and it was a worthy upgrade.

Another great feature was it was now silent, and since SSD's have no moving parts, it is weird to be able to shake a laptop while it is running... :)
