Good day,

Have any of you tried taking out the spinning drive in the Buffalo HD-PATU3 and putting in an SSD there?

I've come across a thread in this forum with a Samsung 840 Evo in it, but the speeds are somewhat lacklustre (around 350MB/s in both read/writes).

If any of you have a Buffalo HD-PATU3 with an SSD in it, do kindly post your results here, along with the type of SSD used and its capacity.

I've got two Samsung 840 Pros from my old Mac Pros which are being sold, and will be replaced by two new cylindrical ones, so I have two 840 Pros to be used elsewhere.

I'm planning to put one of them in a Buffalo HD-PATU3, but I'm not really amenable to the idea of prying the Buffalo's case apart.

Thank you.
