After having some issues with a 2010 Mac Pro (3.33/6 Core), Apple did a full system exchange and 2 days ago I received the new system.
I haven't done anything with the system, as I want to wait for Lion to come out.

What I'd like to know is, regardless of whether I have to install Snow Leopard first and then Lion, or have the ability to simply install Lion via
a burned dvd version - what should/shouldnt I do with the SSD prior to the OS install.

So I just need to format the drive and partion it or should/shouldnt I zero the SSD first (like can be so easily done with HDDs)?

I'm also curious about the issue with deleting files/trash and effects on the SSD. My plan is to keep all system files and os on the SSD, along with
the Home folder. But I'll keep all my docs, movies, music and photos on a second drive. But the thing I worry about is in the process of working with my
photos or music on a second drive, when it comes time to delete something, it still ends up on the desktop trash can. So is this an issue or non issue since
the files aren't stored on the SSD?

It doesn't, end up in the SSDs trash, it'll remain in whatever volume it's mounted on's trash directory.

It all winds up living in .Trashes, but the trashcan filling up on your dock, is just an illusion that presents an aggregate total of all the trashes that belong to your userID. It doesn't move it into the SSDs trash, unless you copy the file to the SSD first.

cheers
