I just got done installing my new SSD. The install and restore of files worked great. Here are the numbers for my new Crucial SSD.....

Is this pretty good? I would do benchmarks but I don't really understand how to read benchmarks or what program to use.

congrats bro. i just made the same update. but my ssd its not as fast as yours. but still a huge improvement.

Just added a Samsung 830 256gb to my 2012 MBP. Very nice performance increase...and considerably faster than the OWC ME 240 6g SSD in the same unit.

Nice. 268 write speed though, I was under the impression they were close to 500? How does the 830 compare, anyone know?

This is from Crucial's website......

Even though on paper the Samsung looks dramatically faster as far as write speeds, I've read that in real world application the comparison is hard to differentiate.

Newegg has the 256gb Samsung 830 for 189.00 I purchased mine the other day off sale. I called them up and they gave me the rebate. Normally they dont, but I purchase quite a bit of stuff from them.

Might sound strange put I wrapped the Sata cable in kitchen foil and surrounded it by masking tape and I get a little higher than your results with my Crucial, macbooks don't by default have very good shielding.

Does this actually help and/or increase read/write speeds?

Exactly what I got! How do you take a video of your desktop like that? Mine came with 000F Firmware too.

I used Screen Flow. I ordered my drive from Amazon with the Transfer Kit. Wasn't much more over just the drive. Made things a lot easier for me when installing the drive.

Yeah mine works just fine without doing that.

What model SSD did you buy? I got the Crucial 256GB M4.

i have the kingstone v200 128g. after the updating the firmware they just released, i get 200-220 writing and around 300 reading. its not that fast, but def an improvement over the old hdd i had. besides i got a got deal on it :D
