Can I use the desktop installation kit for my mbp? Only reason I ask is because I found the desktop kit for cheaper than the laptop kit. I figured the drive would be the same, I would just have to toss the bay adapter, but it still comes with the usb adapter.

The desktop kit is also cheaper than the drive alone

Uh, going to need some more specifics here. Are you trying to replace your internal drive with the SSD? If so, why are you thinking about the USB adapter? Internal drives connect using SATA.

Confused and need more info. What are you trying to do? What model computer? What model SSD?

usb is for transferring data before putting the drive in.
the desktop kit will do fine
