In considering the 2021 MacBook Pros, we're looking at some really nice storage options. Many folks seem to be interested in taking it all the way to the max at 8 TB and that sounds reasonable for some scenarios. I've been having some trouble finding details from teardowns that I've seen so far about whether or not the internal storage will be repairable / replaceable when the time comes. I do enough work on solid state storage devices to know that they *always* fail. It may be 1 year, 3 years, 5 years or (incredibly doubtful 10 years), but storage always fails with current tech.

I really don't think anyone wants to plop in even a 4 TB drive - maybe even reservations on a smaller one - if you don't have replacement/repair options once warranty is gone. It's also a pain to consider having to tether your MBP to an external hard drive perpetually for OS function after such a failure... so we need some kind of option(s) and I can't think Apple would just force one to give up their investment so flippantly...

So, has anyone seen any SSD replacement options outside of warranty for 2021 MBP 14" & 16" for when warranty is gone?

Of course you're going to have trouble -- there ARE NO drive replacement options, as the drive is non-removable/replaceable and is part of the "integrated memory" design.

As such, the drive cannot be replaced or upgraded.
If the drive fails, I'm going to guess that the only "option" is to replace the entire motherboard (or the entire computer).

I could be wrong.
