Hi all,

I'm switching out my 2009 Mac Pro for a new rMBP. I need to migrate my 2 external drives into the MBP (one for music samples and one for music recording / photos) and am thinking of going the SSD route now. I need a 1TB drive for my samples and probably just a 250GB drive for the recording.

Here is what I was thinking:

1) Grabbing the Samsung 850 EVO 1TB that just came out for the sample drive.
2) Getting the LaCie TB / USB3 Rugged 250GB SSD and swapping in the 1TB Samsung (this will allow me to take my samples on the go with me). The USB3 will allow me to transfer stuff off my Mac Pro as well. Will power be an issue?

The question is - what should I house the 250GB SSD in now? I was thinking of using TB for the Sample drive instead of USB3 to get the best read / write speeds (for streaming big sample libraries), but maybe I could use USB3 for the recording drive? Will it be fast enough? I need to leave one TB port free for my audio interface, so I could get something like a Thunderbay Mini and chain the LaCie to that, but it seems like overkill. Or something like a Neutrino Thunder Duo (http://www.akitio.com/portable-storage/neutrino-thunder-duo)?

Wish there was a cheap Thunderbolt splitter or something, but all the docks are like $250+.

Anyway, thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
