SSD space being eaten. HELP

I have recently activated time machine but shortly after that I discovered 32+ GBs being devoted to backups. I did extensive searching. I discovered the "sudo tmutil disablelocal" terminal line I have turned time machine off and still my backups are growing. Why are my backups still growing with TM off?

Please help.
