First of all, I really wish to apologise for starting another thread on the perceived issue of MBA SSD speed based on the manufacturer.

I have a Toshiba...

Plus I type with 2 fingers.. Talk about the alignment of misfortunate circumstances :)

Been thinking something about this particular issue last night while the sleep escaped me as I can hear my Air (slowly) cranking the Excel macro I had to make.. wishing I had a Samsung... and was using at least 4 fingers for typing...

Ok.. enough of being a smart ass (please read further, I am a sarcastic bastard, the rest of the post is not such)...

I would like to propose a hypothesis and those who know more of these things please correct me.

Let us think of the perceived SSD issue in another way.

If you look at this forum (i.e. MBA forum at MacRumors) there is at leads 4-5 threads with an average of 5-6 pages each dealing with people asking, wondering, fearing.. simply freaking out... about whether they got or will get one or the other model of an SSD and about rare examples of people actually talking about the real life difference in use between the two SSD types.

Lets say that each of you actually read the posts in a particular thread you posted in, or all of the threads dealing with the subject, before you posted the sad face for having a Toshiba, or a smiley face for not, whatever it may be.. the time you used to do so, i.e. browse the thread and write a post, is longer than the cumulative difference in time between the function speeds of the two SSDs over the time you will be using the MBA just purchased...

As I said, this is my little untested hypothesis and I wish to ask, those who know, if it stands.

If it does, than any concern is really a matter of microtdutal (an a-literal play on word magnitude) irrelevancy.
If it does not, then us "Toshiba boys and gals" ought to take our machines and request the opening of all MBA package boxes to receive the Samsung SSD.

I do not wish to offend anyone, but I have a feeling, that we have worked ourselves into an unreasonable frenzy and panic.

Whatever the benchmarking tools say the real world application of an MBA will not be influenced, in any way, buy the type of an SSD; especially, if one takes into account the amount of questioning people have made in relation to usefulness of the benchmarking to start of with.

In any case, I would like to see what the masters of the issue say.

Thanks, and again, apologies for starting a new thread.
