How do you all manage your files and still maintain a backup?

Seeing as most people are now investing in smaller SSD/Flash storage due to the cost; how do you manage your files?

Do you have one external that stores the files and then another for a backup? So essentially 2 external drives?

My files fit on my 256GB SSD, as for back up strategies.

I have a Time Machine Backup on a Drobo Mini DAS, I also use Carbon Copy Cloner and clone my rMBP to a separate external disk.

On my main Mac I have two external drives, so I have:-

Internal = Most used data
External 1 = Less used data
External 2 = Time Machine backup of Internal and External 1

Where External 1 is a usb powered small (physical size) drive which I can carry around easily if needed, and External 2 is a larger mains powered drive.

I could replace External 2 with a Time Capsule or some other networked drive if I wanted.
