SSD Upgrade DIY?

How hard is it to DIY upgrade the 1TB drive in an iMac to an 3rd party SSD? Any guides+pics out there? I couldnt find anything on a search.

I want to replace the HDD for an SSD, not add an SSD in addition to the HDD.

Looks like it requires removal of the system board.

Looking at point #1 looks like there is no bracket for it.

Does the OP simply want to replace the HDD with an SSD? Looks a lot less complex then replacing the optical drive. That 1GB drive could then be put in an external enclosure.

Yes, sorry this wasnt specified.

I want to replace the factory 1TB HDD with a SSD and then I would yes, but the 1TB in an enclosure.

You need to follow those steps. The hardest part will probably be securing the screen in the slanted up position so you can get at the HDD. Shouldn't be too tough of a job.
