Hi, i need to change the original ssd in motherboard. Is it possible to install a normal nvme (sabrent) or m.2 ssd (samsung)?

Hi, no it's not. The nvme SSD on the logic board is using a proprietary connector, not m.2. There are adapters online but many of them caused issues in MacBooks, defo would not recommend fitting that to an iMac, where it's super difficult to troubleshoot later. Either just fit a standard sata SSD or you would need to get an Apple SSD.

Agree with @wuwinso the M.2 SSD with an adapter will work, but there are issues with sleep/hibernation as well as data issues (forcetrim)...

I would get an Apple SSD - they do sell cheap used on eBay where I get mine.

Ok, thank you for informations. But i don't need to use sleep or hibernation mode. Are only these the problems?

No there is a whole list of issues reported by people who tried using it, failed OS updates, data loss due to random partition corruption, low quality or faulty adapters etc.

The sleep, hibernation and trim issues listed are the known not working features, plus these random thing, I genuinely can't recommend using m.2 w/ adapter in these machines.
